Roller Shoes
Roller shoes are cool! It’s fun to roll through the mall or at the playground wearing them. But it’s important to remember that you could get hurt just as easily wearing these shoes as you could wearing roller blades or riding a skateboard.
Here are some things you can do to keep from getting hurt:
- Wear safety gear at all times, including a helmet, knee and elbow pads, and wrist protectors.
- Learn basic skills—like how to stop—before wearing the shoes in public.
- Always use the shoes on flat surfaces, not on rocky areas, over curbs or down hills.
- Don’t wear the shoes in crowded spaces or in traffic.
- Ask an adult for help while you are learning to use the shoes.
