Rebecca Kronk, a pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP), is Clinical
Coordinator of the Fragile X Center where she provides direct patient
care and education to children with Fragile X Syndrome and their
families. Ms. Kronk is also an integral member of a group of specialists
in the Division of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics / Child Development
Unit at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. This group of specialists
includes developmental/behavioral pediatricians, nurse practitioners,
psychologists, behavioral consultants, and trainees. Ms. Kronk,
along with other specialists in the CDU, helps families to understand
their child's delay in development, behavioral problems, developmental
disorders, or long-term consequences of medial conditions, such
as premature delivery or genetic disorders. Ms. Kronk provides medical
evaluations for children with developmental and behavioral concerns,
including children with ADHD, autism, and developmental variations
and delay.
Ms. Kronk is experienced in helping children and families with
a range of developmental issues. She has been in the field of pediatric
nursing for 26 years. She enjoys combining clinical work with teaching
and research. Her research has been focused on utilizing the International
Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health published
by the World Health Organization and sleep patterns of children
with Fragile X syndrome.
Rebecca is a board certified nurse practitioner. She earned her MSN from
the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. In 1998-1999 Ms. Kronk
was a UCLID fellow at the University, an experience that provided leadership
training for health care professionals to work with families with children
with disabilities. She is an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh,
coordinates UCLID clinical courses, and is currently a PhD candidate in
Applied Developmental Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh School
of Education.
