| Biographical Summary

Dr. Spinks completed his Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell
University in 1995 with a major in Neurobiology and Behavior. He
then earned his medical degree from Columbia University's College
of Physicians and Surgeons in 1999 and completed his general surgery
internship and neurosurgery residency at the University of California,
Los Angeles. He came to the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh for
his pediatric neurosurgery fellowship prior to joining the faculty.
His current focus is on developing minimally invasive surgical techniques
for children, especially in the areas of CSF diversion, intracranial
and skull base tumors, and spinal surgery.
His specialized areas of interest include minimally invasive pediatric
neurosurgery; neuroendoscopy for CSF diversion and tumor resection;
pediatric spine surgery including spinal instrumentation and reconstruction,
spinal tumors, spine trauma (cervical, thoracic, and lumbar), tethered
cord, Chiari malformation, and syringomyelia; pediatric skull base
surgery including endonasal surgery, acoustic neuromas, and craniopharyngiomas;
pediatric vascular surgery including Moya Moya, aneurysms, and arteriovenous
malformations.
