This CD-Rom was created to educate healthcare providers about newborn screening, and its implications for sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait. After viewing this CD-Rom, you will have a better understanding of newborn screening results of patients with sickle cell trait and sickle cell disease.
This CD contains four chapters addressing important facts about newborn screening for Sickle Cell Disease and Sickle Cell Trait. They are:
Chapter 1: Newborn Screening and Laboratory Testing;
Chapter 2: Inheritance Patterns and Family Health History;
Chapter 3: Medical Concerns Associated with Sickle Cell Disease; and
Chapter 4: Counseling Sickle Cell Disease Families.
Please review these chapters in order, from one to four, in order to obtain the best understanding of the material.
