First Latin Symposium of
Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care

Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC Heart Center, in partnership with Children’s University Hospital of Geneva (Switzerland) and Gregorio Marañon University Hospital (Madrid, Spain), are sponsoring the Latin Symposium of Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care at the Fifth World Congress on Pediatric Critical Care in Geneva on June 25, 2007.

The symposium, presented in Spanish and broadcast to countries in Central and South America, will include presentations by Victor Morell, MD, chief of the Division of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery and Ricardo Muñoz, MD, chief of the Cardiac Intensive Care Division at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC Heart Center. Dr. Morell will present on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and ventricular assist devices in cardiac failure. Dr. Muñoz will speak on the essential concepts of mechanical ventilation in pediatric patients with heart disease.

Presented by the World Federation of Pediatric Intensive and Critical Care Societies
(WFPICCS), the Fifth World Congress on Pediatric Critical Care will “bring together a high quality expert community that will share and exchange personal experience of pediatric critical care in a global perspective.”
