Liver Clinic

The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology includes an outpatient office dedicated to caring for children with liver disease. Robert Squires, MD, an internationally recognized expert on pediatric liver disease, sees these patients in a weekly session.

Dr. Squires and his staff provide comprehensive and coordinated care to patients with liver disease of all types, including biliary atresia, neonatal cholestasis, acute or chronic liver failure, chronic viral hepatitis, autoimmune hepatitis, alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency and a broad array of metabolic and genetic diseases.

Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh has the surgery, radiology and pathology services necessary to help identify the cause of the liver disease in our patients. Dr. Squires works closely with pediatric surgeons and transplant surgeons to bring up-to-date and innovative care to children with liver disease.
