Educators and social workers are available to help parents, schools and others understand IBD and the day-to-day issues of living with IBD. A psychiatrist with unique experience in caring for children with IBD assists children and families with the emotional and psychological aspects of IBD, such as managing the uncertainty and stress of living with a chronic disease. Referral RequirementsReferrals are required from primary care physicians or other Children’s Hospital specialty services. Referrals for patients enrolled in managed care insurance plans may require authorization from the insurance provider and primary care physician.
