Description of Services

The Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Center uses a team approach to provide each patient with the most advanced medical care available and compassionate support for the whole family. The center provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art clinical care to control the symptoms of IBD and to improve the quality of life for children with the disease. The center’s clinical services include:

  • A full range of diagnostic services, such as upper endoscopy, colonoscopy and capsule endoscopy
  • Nutritional services ranging from optimizing children’s diets to treat their disease and facilitate growth, to providing intravenous nutrition and tube feeding, if necessary
  • Complete radiology services, such as CT scans, MRI and interventional radiology
  • Complete pediatric surgical services including minimally invasive surgery
  • Complete pathological services including advanced technologies as needed
  • Access to the latest, most innovative therapies

Educators and social workers are available to help parents, schools and others understand IBD and the day-to-day issues of living with IBD. A psychiatrist with unique experience in caring for children with IBD assists children and families with the emotional and psychological aspects of IBD, such as managing the uncertainty and stress of living with a chronic disease.
