Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology
Description of Services
The Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology provides consultation and services related to the identification, assessment and management of hearing disorders and comprehensive evaluation, treatment, and consultation for children with speech, language, and swallowing/feeding disorders. The Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology is recognized as one of the most outstanding pediatric facilities in the nation. Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC is accredited by The Joint Commission.

Referral Requirements
Referrals may be received from any source. Self-referrals are accepted, although a physician’s referral is required for billing insurance companies. Authorization from the insurance provider and primary care physician are often required, especially for those enrolled in managed care insurance plans. All necessary referral and authorization forms must be received before the patient’s visit.
