Amenities

Amenity Kits

Personal hygiene and amenity kits are available for parents during their child's hospitalization. Items include shaving cream, razor, mouthwash, deodorant, lotion, shampoo, soap, toothpaste and toothbrush. Feminine hygiene products are available for 25 cents each.

ATMs

Automated teller machines (ATMs) can be found in the following locations:

Main Hospital, Floor 1a, by the Grape Elevators
Main Hospital, Floor 3b, by the Pop Stop
John G. Rangos Sr. Research Center, Floor 1

Bag Lunches

Families requiring meal assistance can request free bag lunches, which they can pick up from the Welcome/Information Center. Each bag lunch has a sandwich, a piece of fruit and drink.

Car Seats

Car seat loaners are available by contacting the Child Passenger Safety Technician at 412-692-7094. A social worker can provide assistance on off hours for car seat loan. They are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and are dependent upon supply.

Flowers and Gifts

Flower and gift deliveries will be provided to patient rooms when staffing permits. Our friendly staff at the Welcome/Information Center will notify parents of the item and they can pick it up at their convenience.

Gift Shop

The Gift Shop, located in the main hospital, Floor 1c, offers a wide variety of gifts, toys, balloons, greeting cards, snacks and magazines. Clothing, toiletries, phone cards, postage stamps, helium balloon refills, bus passes and lottery tickets also are available for your convenience.

The Gift Shop is open from 7 a.m–9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8:30 a.m–8:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Gift Shop accepts cash and debit and credit cards (Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express). Payroll deduction is available for any UPMC employee with a $10 minimum purchase. Laptop computers are available by calling 692-9000.

Laundry Products

Laundry products can be purchased at the Welcome/Information Center for a cost of 25 cents per box. Tide detergent, Clorox 2 and Bounce dryer sheets in single load size are offered.

Telephones

The hospital is a cell phone-friendly building. If you are in an area where this is not in effect, you will be advised not to use your cellular phone.
