Children's Hospital is part of the UPMC family.
The Pediatric Nephrology program at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC is one of a handful in the country to qualify for a prestigious T32 grant from NIH, which helps fund the cost of research fellows. This grant, plus the extensive resources of one of the nation’s most advanced medical centers, offers a rich environment for basic, translational and clinical research.
As a fellow, you will also have the opportunity to work with faculty across the University of Pittsburgh, including the Adult Nephrology program, which also has an abundance of NIH-funded researchers and a prestigious NIH O’Brien Center dedicated to foster collaborations in renal research. You will be assigned a research mentor and a scholarly oversight committee, and will undergo didactic courses to ensure progress in completing a specific research project, writing manuscripts, and learning how to write grant applications.
In summary, fellows that complete the program will be well-trained clinicians and/or emerging clinician-scientists.
