Children's Hospital is part of the UPMC family.
Our combined training in Pediatrics, General Psychiatry, and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry program integrates strong clinical experiences with the breadth of resources available at UPMC. At the end of five years of training, residents are prepared for board certification in all three fields. Moreover, our trainees are well-rounded physicians who excel in clinical, research, and advocacy careers that address the holistic care of adults and children across the lifespan.
Each year, two Triple Board residents join categorical Pediatric and Psychiatry residents along with combined residents in Medicine-Pediatrics, Family Medicine-Psychiatry, and Neurology-Pediatrics, amongst other combined residency programs at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate Medical Education Program.
TBP residents will have completed:
The program provides an integrated educational experience, with graduated responsibility for patient care and teaching as residents advance. Interaction with pediatric and psychiatric resident colleagues, as well as faculty, is ongoing through the entirety of training.
A robust triple board alumni presence provides a strong mentoring base and sense of community. A variety of clinical settings and opportunities provide TBP residents the opportunity to directly practice at the interface of pediatrics and psychiatry.
