UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh has been performing liver transplants for children since Thomas E. Starzl initiated Children's pediatric liver transplantation program in 1981. Since then, we've performed more than 1,600 liver transplants to date. Our specialists have helped improve the quality of life for countless children whose lives were affected by metabolic diseases, hepatitis and liver disease.
