Children's Hospital is part of the UPMC family.
The purpose of this research registry is to collect data about patients who have experienced malignant hyperthermia so that researchers can study a large body of medical records to answer questions about the condition and its treatment and to help identify and recruit patients who may be eligible for future research studies. Malignant hyperthermia is a rare life-threatening biochemical chain reaction triggered in some individuals by exposure to certain drugs used for general anesthesia.
Patients who have experienced malignant hyperthermia or whose family members have had an episode of malignant hyperthermia are invited to take part in this registry.
