Biography Summary

Barbara Cohlan, MD, is a member of the UPMC Newborn Medicine Program and a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

She received her bachelor's degree in English literature at the University of Michigan. She attended medical school at New York University School of Medicine, completed her residency at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and a fellowship in neonatology at Children's Hospital Boston.

Currently, Dr. Cohlan is the Director of Normal Newborn Nurseries and the Neonatal Follow-up Clinic at Magee-Womens Hospital. She is Co-Director of the Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment Center and Director of the Antenal Consultation Service.

Her interests include follow-up of the very-low-birthweight infant and maternal and perinatal outcomes in patients with major fetal anomalies.
