Biography

Joel S. Greenberger, MD is a Claude Worthington Benedum Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, the chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology at UPMC, and codirector of the Lung Cancer Center at UPCI. He specializes in radioprotection and the radiation treatment for lung and esophageal cancers.

Dr. Greenberger is board-certified in therapeutic radiology. He received an undergraduate degree from Columbia University in New York, and completed a medical degree, cum laude, at Harvard Medical School in Boston. Dr. Greenberger completed a residency at the Joint Center for Radiation Therapy, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School in Boston.

Dr. Greenberger is on the editorial board for several clinical and research publications. He is also a member of professional organizations, such as the American Medical Association, National Association of Residents and Interns, Commissioned Officers Association, Massachusetts Medical Society, Middlesex Central District Medical Society, American Physicians Fellowship for the Israel Medical Association, American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Society of Microbiology, American Federation for Clinical Research, Tissue Culture Association, American Society of Hematology, International Association for Comparative Research in Leukemia and Related Disease, and many more.
