The doctor goes between offices and there were occasions where I had trouble with scheduling as the people at the front desk would continue to refer me to different people saying "we don't schedule for him" or "you have to go to/call this office to schedule"...after getting the run around multiple time, I drove to all the offices until someone helped me (Jan and Amy who were awesome). Other than the ridiculous run around with scheduling, I would hands down travel anywhere to see Dr. Onieshi. He's amazing at what he does, personable, and helpful.
Dr. Onishi is very expert and was able to relate an ultrasound that he did to my condition, explain treatment options, and offer prognosis.
Dr. O is hands down not only the best PM&R doctor I have seen, he is the best sports-health care provider I have seen. He is so in tune with my needs as a athlete. He thinks way outside of the box which is precisely inline with my thinking. I am grateful to have started to see him recently
very pleased with overall experience. evaluation was very complete. did PT eval without us having an appointment at the physician's request.
I made an appt with Dr. Onishi due to his expertise and reputation as an excellent Dr. for treating sports injuries.
Dr. Onishi takes time to diagnosis problems in my knees that I would not receive from any other provider due to the inability to have an MRi. w/o the sonogram I would have no idea of the condition of my knees.
Dr. Onishi was very informative and knowledgeable of my situation and the possibilities for care.
excellent care, exceptional provider
Dr. Onishi was excellent. He thoroughly went through my medical history and listened to my concerns. He was willing to help me and not dismiss my options about what is going on with my foot as previous doctors have done.
Despite not being a back specialist, Dr. Onishi graciously agreed to see me for pain that I believed was caused by a previous muscle/tendon tear near my spine. He performed ultrasound over the area and didn't see anything of major significance and his explanation was very reassuring. Also, his knowledge of the intricacies of spinal anatomy was very impressive considering it was generally outside his area of expertise. I am grateful to UPMC for having doctors like Dr. Onishi.
Dr Onishi is an amazing physician. When you talk he really listens. I would strongly recommend him.
Dr. Onishi is excellent. It takes awhile to get an appointment, and there is a bit of a wait when you do go. However, he takes time with you, is very thorough, and knows his stuff. His suggestions to me had a positive effect on my foot problem.
This was a wonderful experience. Doctor Onishi is knowledgeable and, as a runner, completely empathetic regarding such injuries. He spent a great deal of time with me and that was terrific. Needless to say, I only wish that I could have seen him at earlier date but he is busy for a reason; his care.
Excellent care provided on this visit.
Dr Onishi was very caring and listened to my concerns. I would definitely go to him again.
Had a good visit and received information i needed. Doctor was confused about exactly how to go about my condition because he never saw it before. It was a little bit confusing determining my next steps to get testing and treatment for my issue.
Dr. Onishi was thorough in his evaluation. He was respectful and courteous. He figured out what was going on and has prescribed a treatment plan for a path to recovery.
Great care provider. Really interested in the patient's outcome.
Could not have asked for a better physician! Dr Onishi was brilliant. Amazing "bedside manner" and very thorough.
a wonderful provider. His expertise was the answer to my prayers. A great listener, calm, very attentive. so pleased!
very knowledgeable man, gentle and courteous doctor
Did not tell me whether heat or ice would help & I did not think to ask. I did ask if I should do long walks.
service and Doctor is the best
Dr. Onishi was very accessible and patient. Unfortunately he did not have access to one of the key tests he needed to evaluate my condition, as that test did not make it into the UPMC database for me. I asked that Dr. Onishil obtain that test (an EMG) from another UPMC doctor I've seen who had a copy of the test results and let me know whether that changed his theory of the source of my condition. I am waiting to hear back from him.
the wait to see the doctor was extremely long probably about an hour but it was worth the wait. I am very pleased with Dr. Onishi's patience and experience and knowledge
He offered a multistep nonsurgical approach to a longstanding knee problem/pain.
Dr. Onishi is a wonderful physician.
The doctor exceeded my expectations with up to date scientific acumen, listening skills and professionalism.
I've been looking for a doctor like Dr Onishi for a long time. He didn't rush through the first appt and did a thorough exam vs looking locally. It is also wonderful that he is a runner too so understood my pain in a way and wanted to get me back up on my feet. Dr Onishi was kind, funny, has an excellent bedside manner and seems to have a gift for helping people. He's provided solutions to hopefully avoid surgery which is a road I hope to not go on. I have yet to reach out to him with follow up questions so am not sure of his responsiveness but for the first time I actually believe I will get better under Dr Onishi's care. He's given me hope.
Took a special interest in my specific case, regardless of the general population norms/usual findings. He took the time to assess me thoroughly, and answered my questions. Dr. Onishi (and his assistant and fellows) were kind and caring and I LOVED how thorough they were when trying to understand my medical history. They were realistic with the next steps forward with treatment, and they did not try to make me believe something just to use another "modality" of treatment.
Dr Onishi is a great professional, knowledgeable and caring.
When I discuss Dr. Ken, I am not concerned with anything but how excellent a physician. You at UPMC are very fortunate to have him on staff.. Let's face it people of my age group have knee problems. I have recommend ed him many time, and EVERY one of him say he is the very best. Period. Time and material have nothing to do with a appointment with him
excellent care from. Dr. Onishi his team. beautiful facility.
Everyone I met worked well together. They worked as an effective team.
I was very please with the doctors that worked with me very professionalI'll definitely go back for those providers
He was very professional, thorough, understanding, and sympathetic to my problem. He was very knowledgeable and honest about my condition(s) after a thorough physical and ultrasound exam. He recommended several choices for treatment to relieve some of the symptoms and pain I'm suffering. I was impressed.
very caring and extremely knowledgeable
My experience with this appointment was outstanding. It exceeded all of my expectations. I feel the evaluation and treatment that I received was exceptional.
Dr Onishi is a FABULOUS doctor!!! VERY THOROUGH!!!
Very thorough. Explained things very clearly. Treated me respectfully and like an educated person who is capable of understanding medical information when explained in layman's terms.
Dr. Onish is, hands down, the best sports doctor I have ever seen (and I have seen a lengthy list over the course of the past 10 years). Extremely knowledgeable, passionate and patient, I couldn't be more thankful to have him as a provider.
It was a very helpful experience as I was able to receive a diagnosis and plan of treatment that I feel confident and comfortable with. The Doctor's knowledge and experience in his field and as a runner gave me assurance that the planned treatment is the best and most proactive approach that I can take to get me back on my feet. I am a competitive runner for my age and feel confident that I'm following the right plan to still consider reaching my future goals within a reasonable amount of time. I feel that I am in the best of care with the plan and all my interaction with Dr. Onishi.
great care! so detailed! answered every question I had! amazing practitioner
Extremely skilled physician who is very thorough and listens to your concerns!
Dr. Onishi is a very good Docter , he is very personable and thorough .
Phenomenal Visit! Dr. and staff very informative and knowledgeable.
my care provider is very knowledgeable, patient and answers all my questions
Everyone was very pleasant and helpful in the office. Dr Onishi was very thorough!!!
Kentaro was great and was able to perform an ultrasound scan on my knee both quickly and effectively. He walked me through the whole process and explained everything to me in a way that was easy to understand.
Dr O is the answer to my medical prayers. a kind person with a generous sense of humor. is intent on helping u with pain.
Kentaro was great -- very knowledgeable and very patient in addressing my questions.
Dr. Onishi is an excellent doctor with a caring personality!
Dr. Onishi seems like a wonderful doctor and gave me hope that my chronic plantar fasciitis can be treated. Both he and his associate who spoke to me during my appointment understood how much running means to me and were very thorough in explaining treatment options.
Dr. Onishi was extremely personable and easy to talk to. He made me feel comfortable. He explained things as he went with performing my ultrasound.
Dr. Onishi did a wonderful job with our daughter. He explained what he saw in the ultra sound of our daughter's shoulder and administered an injection very carefully.
Wonderful physician - thrilled to have found him and received his care.
Very good experience
Dr. Onishi was great--so knowledgeable and helpful. The only bad thing was trying to find a rehab place that could take me right away. But that is a different issue.
Dr. Onishi was very knowledgeable , kind, and thorough. My daughter and I were very happy with his care and the care and attention of his experienced and friendly staff.
I am so impressed with dr. onishi knowledge care and concerns for my problem that I have had for over a year he has given me hope that my ankle problems may be resolved I feel blessed that after a year-and-a-half I was led to dr. onishi
UPMC is very fortunate to have the expertise of Dr.Onishi. He has been most helpful in treating my tendinitis. My case is complex and he has been patient and attentive to every detail. He always devotes plenty of time to me at each visit, even when I know he is very busy.
Both my husband and myself have commented many times of the excellent care I have recieved from Dr. Onishi abd his entire staff. Never have had a complaint with my many visits!
I had an excellent experience with Dr. Onishi. He answered all questions, explained what he saw when he reviewed the ultrasound of my foot and why the procedure would be helpful to relieve my symptoms.
more than excellent as a caring listener. never rushed me. I learned a lot from him. his mixture of humor made me feel very comfortable.
extremely patient in explaining condition and treatment
Dr. Onishi was wonderful, a kind and compassionate doctor that knows what he is doing. Thank you to him and his staff for helping me.
Dr. Onashi was personable, knowledgeable, thorough, and answered all my questions.
Dr. Onishi and staff was extremely helpful through the appointment. Explained process of treatment in detail, answered questions, and discussed overall treatment plan. Spent a lot of time with me and answered all my questions adequately.
listens very well, has been the only doctor in 28 yrs to take my back issue serious. I'm beyond grateful
Excellent physician. Really takes the time to get to know you and explain your condition, treatment options, and prognosis.
Dr. Onishi is great! This most recent visit, I was getting another injection in my knee. Dr. Onishi knows from my last two that I don't do well with having needles in me. Although I normally talk with my mom on the phone, Dr. Onishi also converses with me and my mom to keep me distracted while he does the injection.
Dr. Onishi is an excellent provider. He examined me thoroughly for the reason for the visit, asked me questions and listened to my concerns. I am really glad I had the opportunity to choose him for this visit.
Dr. Onishi was very nice and seemed knowledgeable, however it's soon to decide if I have been treated with my health issue.
Dr. Onishi is wonderful!
Excellet care. K. Onishi(sp?) is an asset to UPMC medicine. Knowledgeable with excellent communication skills and compassionate presence.
Dr. Onishi is not only an awesome man, he is very confident, always sharing infos, teaching you on how to improve your quality of life, caring, and very sensitive.
best Dr ever
Dr. Onishi's staff was very kind and considerate. I was very pleased with my visit.
Dr. Onishi did an amazing job identifying my injury and coming up with a plan to fix it
very positive experience dr.onishi and staff are outstanding
The doctor was kind and understanding. He didn't explain why he chose prolotherapy instead of PRP or what my options are if this shot doesn't work. I liked him very much and gave me some hope.
Dr Onishi is a very caring doctor and explains all questions asked of him. Probably one of the best doctors UPMC has in their network.
Dr. Onishi and his assistant Jessica amaze me. It is always incredible to watch him work and listen to how he explains things to both myself and his students. He takes what is terribly confusing and makes it understandable and then gives me real options for my care. He also gives me hope as well as pain reduction and Improvement in movement capabilities.
very good listening skills!
I had to wait this time for 1 hr. and 35min., not acceptable.
Dr. was extremely knowledgeable, took time to understand what I had to say, and provided options so that I was part of the decision making process.
I travel to this office because of the excellent care I receive from everyone. I didn't have an appointment with dr. oneshi that day, but they fit me into their schedule. I was very thankful for that. I had an appointment with dr. ho n she spoke with him. this saved me an additional 2' trip back for an app't. I was appreciative for this. thanks to everyone there.
good explanations of the plan of care and reasons for the physical disability that I experience.
Dr and Staff are wonderful. top notch care.
The Dr. is very polite, knowledgable and a good listener and educator. He listened carefully and explained to me all the options available for me and the health of my ankle. I was very pleased
DR. Onisi & Staff were excellent. My previous care giver was Dr. Giamitorio at upmc South Side Isaw her for the same treatment. I need these shots every 3-6 months I was never notified when she left.
all dr.s and staff at upmc lemieux center are great, caring, excellent, very caring people
I haven't had a doctor that listened/explained/understood me so well since the "olden days." On my first visit, Dr. Onishi walked into the exam room prepared, having had studied my records. He also was prepared with three options for my care, explaining each one clearly. He answered all my questions. I didn't feel rushed.
very pleased w/the progress I've made w/my hip condition since dr Wright referred me to dr anishi approx. 1 year ago.
This guy is incredible. He is probably saving the uPMC health system millions of dollars by his spot on diagnostic abilities instead of wasting money on MRI studies etc. I hope his skills are recognized by his boss.
Over the last year i have seen this provider numerous times. Not just the first visit, but every visit Dr. Onishi takes his time to listen to my concerns, discusses options and offers his opinion as to how I should proceed. I have never had a physician who is so compassionate, caring, and so skilled as Dr. Onishi! If I were able to give him an Above and Beyond Award I would. I see how he interacts with all of his staff and patients and it is clear that every day he goes above and beyond!
This Dr is someone that is about the highest I can rate for his concern for his patient. I spent 3 hours on my first visit with him. Next visit was half hour visit before procedure was done. He definitely cares about his patients.
I was very happy with the visit. Dr. Onishi had reviewed by chart carefully before my appointment, and made sure that he understood my condition and concerns. He answered my questions, and provided me with several treatment options
highest level of care.
Dr. Onishi is very attentive and forward-thinking, plus he has a great sense of humor, which makes you feel at ease. I am very happy with the care he has provided for my condition... other doctors have not been able to help me.
