All staff including the physician were respectful, provided information clearly, and were easy to speak with. They spent ample time for questions and answers and assured understanding.
as always they have done a great job
we waited an hour and ten minutes to see the provider.
I do not care for Dr Gurtunca whatsoever. She has always talked down to me at my son's appointments for years. he is about to turn 18 in a couple months and has been seeing her for years. she comes off as condescending.
I would recommend Dr. Grutunca to any parent. She cares for my child as I would.
waited almost an hour after his appointment time to be seen
My only complaint is that our appointment was for 2:00 and we waited roughly 40 min. to be seen. I u set stand things come up and delay time but it's hard to make a young child sit in a room and wait that long. having said that, I could not be more happier with the time the Dr. took with us.
The doctor did not review my daughters chart prior to the visit. She was unaware of critical developmental milestones that were discussed in previous 2 visits ie. breast development. This is critical to her care from an endocrinologist. This was our 3rd visit to see her and she showed no recollection or knowledge of information discussed during prior 2 visits. We will not be returning to see her as she was unable to provide helpful care and was very impersonal. She offended my daughter discussing her suboptimal growth.
The endocrinology staff is always helpful, understanding and very knowledgable about the issue present by me and my daughter. Dr Gurtunka in particular is fantastic. The Diabetic educators are also fantastic.
Bedside manor was poor
Our doctor does not seem to believe my concerns are valid. Some of her answers were not even answering the question that was asked and others are treated as though the concern is a problem with parenting and not a medical issue. I do not believe she adequetly has a good understanding of my daughter's condition but has been insistent on us staying with her care. when I had called to schedule this appointment I had scheduled it with a different doctor. our current doctoor had the office call me and ask me to schedule with her again. I did that, but after this visit our next appointment is scheduled with a different doctor. I believe we need a different perspective for the best way to care for our daughters diagnosis.
Dr. Grutunca is an exceptional doctor.
It was very refreshing to have the doctor be straight forward and honest about my sons health.
We went to Erie to see the Dr. The facility is very nice. We had no wait time to be taken to a room. There was very little wait time for the Dr. We felt that the doctor didn't review the information on the forms I filled out. She asked repeatedly for family history, but my son is adopted. I wrote that on the forms and I said that to her. She kept asking about my and my husbands family history, which wouldn't help with our son. We felt that she talked down to us and that we couldn't really talk and explain when she asked questions.
Pleased with the concern for my child and explaination of issues.
I was very thankful that Dr. Gurtunca was willing to look for answers to issues that otherwise have not been addressed. She was professional and courteous, which I greatly appreciate.
All she did was ask questions and lecture us about what food we eat. She gave no view into if my child was in good health and why she wanted her to take all of these hormone tests. I had to look it all up online. She needed to explain why they were doing tests. All she said was she wanted tests and we would discuss treatment once we get results.
I would highly recommend Dr. Gertunca to other families. I'm new to the area and am very pleased with this and all UPMC specialists we have encountered so far.
dr gurtunca was very nice & I felt listened to my concerns. I do wish though that when Drs enter a room they should introduce themselves to you & your child. also the issues we were talking about - early puberty - are not ones I have discussed or explained in detail to my daughter yet (she just turned 9) so it was uncomfortable to answer some of the questions with her in the room. I would have appreciated a discussion alone with the dr after her exam.
