I felt that the provider was very rude and didn't really have much time for us. He never gave the chance to ask questions or express concerns. When my child got her cast on , he did not re-check her before we left to make sure it was correct, too tight or that she was able to move her fingers, etc. I was not happy with how we were treated during our visits with Dr. Ward.
This visit was a check-up to check our daughter's growth after hip dysplasia surgery. Dr. Ward has been amazing and I would recommend him to anyone with a child needing orthopedic care.
every time we was at the office the dr was in and out spending less then 10 min with us, it always felt rushed.
I was nervous to come in the office after reading so many negative reviews on a doctor, but my child really needs help. Dr Ward was very kind and answered all of my questions. His stall was also very kind. He was not able to help with my child's pain but was able to direct us as to where to go next and relieve us that her spine is not fractured or worse. So we are very thankful for the time he took with us.
the wait was way to long my appointment was at 12:35pm and didn't get seen till almost 3pm I think that's cray because we was on time and shouldn't of had to wait so long
Dr. Ward is an excellent doctor!
we had a horrible experience with Dr. Ward he was rude and would not listen he also was very condescending .. I would never tell anyone with a child to go see him he acted like we were wasting his time .. it's such a shame that someone with all that knowledge would behave that way with a child .
good experience for my child;
This provider was new to us, as our previous provider has retired. The experience was very good with no issues.
Everyone - The Entire Staff Helped Take Away A Lot Of My Anxiety About The Visit
Dr. Ward is great. Very caring for the children
We waited over an hour to be taken back for the appointment, then had to wait another 1/2 hour for the doctor to see her. He was brusque to the point of rude and uncaring. Overall, we (and I stress "we" because my 9 year old daughter could very much tell the care was poor) left there feeling completely unsatisfied that she was treated as a person that mattered. It felt like we were bothering him and wasting his time. We are all busy people, with things to do. She needed a walking boot for a fracture and a physician's excuse from gym. I couldn't get that from the PCP and I couldn't get that from the ER. I will be sure never to bother this physician or this location ever again. We will not be returning for a follow up or ever returning with any of my 3 children again.
I appreciated the whole staff for helping us though a emotional scare. The Dr and his nurse were extremely helpful.
I understand the doc is a surgeon however with that said patients should be made aware when the doctor is running over an hour behind. I was pretty well snapped and toldit's to be expected, however when patients are driving an hr to see this provider we need to be in the loop. I also felt it was unnecessary that the doctor moved my daughter's arm around knowing it was broken and we had questionable X-rays from quick care and they never repeated the X-rays. I felt he spoke down to us. I will never see him again and will refer all friends and family else where.
I felt Dr. Ward could have directed his conversation toward my son since he is 15 (almost 16). Also show some warmth & caring. Dr. Ward was knowledgeable & did answer questions.
has a somewhat curt personality.
Dr. Ward was very rushed in his visit with us, and did not have a very good "bedside manor". When we asked him questions about our child's development that had been stressed as important by the Pediatrician, he completely disregarded our concerns. He also provided no solid suggestions or advise when we asked about how to do normal infant care (diaper changes, bathing, breastfeeding) and responded with a "You'll figure it out". He came off as extremely egotistical, and that his opinions/care trumped all other Medical Professional's previous opinions. We do feel confident in his ability to care for our daughter, but he is not a Dr I would recommend to other parents facing similar issues due to his lack of bedside tact.
We drove over an hour for this appointment. Not only was he 20+ minutes late, he one spent two minutes with my daughter. So we drove over an hour for a late appointment with a doctor that did not spend any time with my child and seemed bothered that he even had to come into the room. I will not have his see my children again! And if my child continues to have this problem, he did not seem to even care to find out what may be wrong!
The care my son had was world class and a credit to UPMC.
Very friendly staff, and excellent doctor!
the only thing me and my wife didn't really like it was the wait time. Our appointment was scheduled at 1:20pm she had her sonogram done around 2:00pm but then we were seen by the doctor after 4:00pm.
dr ward was extremely rude. we waited for more than 45 minutes after we had an X-ray. he walked in 1.5 hrs after our appointment, pulled up an X-ray, said everything is in place and tried to walk out of the room. I stopped him and asked a few questions. He answered quickly as if I was bothering him. he never once looked, touched or asked about my child. I found him very ignorant.
Dr Ward is excellent. You do not wait in the room, he was in very promptly. He did not waste my time. He did the exam, looked at the x-ray. Explained everything to me so I could understand. Quick appointment. Esp after being at work all day its nice to have a quick appointment and not be there for hours. Couldn't ask for anything more!!
We visted the ED twice in 1 week on the same issue. I contacted the office via central scheduling 3x's to discuss my concerns and never received a call back. My daughter was misdiagnosed in the ER and casted for a sprain which was explained to me after she had already been in a cast for 3 weeks. However, the MD was very respectful and kind - he didn't explain why she was misdiagnosed so many times but provided us with information going forward. I was satisfied with this.
we waited almost 2 hours for the dr to come in the exam room
Dr. Ward is very nice and knowledgable. He explained several things to us and my child and we feel confident with his care.
I just assumed coming to a children's hospital that the Dr would have been more engaging and child friendly. He seemed cold, strict and never explained things to our face, he was looking at the computer most of the time. He also examined my son in about 2 seconds and that was it.
The doctor was very arrogant and dismissive of both my daughter's and my comments and concerns. He had no bedside manner and took 2 minutes to 'examine' her physically and spent the rest of the time looking at the computer to view x-rays and MRI. When we asked for options for her pain and solutions, he again was very dismissive of her pain and seemed to appear that he did not believe her pain was as real as it is. I am thoroughly disappointed that he is a physician at Children's Hospital and a representative of the medical community at that organization. While he may be a skilled and knowledgeable physician, he is a miserable person to deal with regarding the health of a child. I hope this feedback will have some impact on your management and/or evaluation of him as a physician at your hospital.
tried to get rid of me quickly after waiting 3 hours!!! to see him
my son has had a diagnosis since birth and went through years of thearpy to overcome his challenges. While only one notice symptom is still there the doctor disagreed with the diagnosis after seeing my son for only 3 minutes and not knowing full medical history. So he tells him that, that is not what he has he has something else!!!
1) the child is 12... the doctor did not address him directly or ask if he had questions. My child is old enough to ask him his perspective 2) the doctor did not ask me if I had any concerns or worries that he could address as best as could right now. Child's long term prognosis was not addressed. 3) I felt not exactly rushed, but not exactly nurtured.
We've spent and continue to spend a lot of time at Children's with our six year old son. Our appointment with Dr. Ward was by far the worst experience that we've had there. We waited over an hour of our scheduled appointment time to be seen by Dr. Ward. Upon his arrival he was extremely rude, made my husband and I feel that the concerns and questions we asked were stupid and overall seemed rush. The Ortho Dr. that our son saw in the ER on Thursday casted his foot at an angle. Dr. Ward wanted it re-done. The 1st medical assistant that cut/re-did our son's cast re-did it the same way that the Ortho Dr. did it and we had to wait for it to set so that they could cut it off and redo it again. I called the next day (and am waiting on a call back) to switch to another doctor for our son's follow up appointment November 15th. I wouldn't recommend Dr. Ward to anyone.
Dr Ward and his stuff are the best
Dr Ward is great will def recommend him
Dr. Ward was fairly punctual for our appointment time. He is very to-the-point, but I felt my concerns, at times, were trivialized. My daughter has clubfoot, and we asked to order the next size in boots as our correct pair took 6 weeks to arrive. The first pair that arrived were three sizes too big. However, he relayed that toes going over the edge of the boots is normal and should not order the next size. I respectfully disagree with this and would prefer not to skip a size in boots if our insurance will cover it. We also asked him to check the bar length, which he did, but said we could adjust it ourselves, though I would have preferred he completed this himself to ensure it was measured and adjusted properly. Overall, we will more than happily continue treatment with Dr. Ward, but we would love to experience a softer persona.
he was brisk and quick, not much interest in what i had to say about why we were there.
Dr. Ward had no interest in caring for my daughter. Made us feel like an imposition.
Because my child's prognoses wasn't bad, the Dr acted as if he couldn't be bothered with her case. He was very short with us and very unfriendly.
Everyone has been helpful, courteous and competent.
Dr. Ward is an expert in his field and greatly appreciated. His only area of growth would be to have increased interaction with the patient--it's all business. One or two questions about the patient's current life would greatly increase engagement and take very little time.
Doctor was not very friendly and only spent about 1 minute with us.
Dr. Ward acted like wee were wasting his time. He spent less than 10 min with our son and determined he could do nothing for him. The whole appointment was a waste of our time.
wanted to put me on a pill regiment and I don't do that
I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Ward. He was very good at explaining the procedure and recovery to my child. He would talk directly to my son and treat him with respect. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
Excellent, wonderful surgeon, not the best bedside manners.
Dr Ward was condescending, blase regarding my daughters health, and showed no interest in her whatsoever. He was rude. I got a second opinion and am glad I did! He isn't her doctor anymore.
The exam room floor was in need of cleaning. Otherwise a quick, good experience.
did a great job very happy with the results
Disappointed with the follow-up visit - no follow-up x-rays were given, physician did not ask about my child's level of pain or if there were any questions or concerns. Never touched my child or looked at her cast - only briefly reviewed the x-rays given in the ER and told me to schedule an appointment in 4 weeks to remove the cast. Total time for the appointment was approximately 5 minutes. A nurse and resident were present in the room and did not introduce themselves. This "appointment" could have been given over the phone or not at all - I didn't learn anything new that wasn't already told to me in the ER. And the worst part is my insurance company will be billed and I had to pay the co-pay. And I had to drive over an hour to get to Children's, so I didn't appreciate the inconvenience.
Dr. Timothy Ward's surgery skills demonstrate exceptional knowledge required for his field of medicine. He listens to you so well you can almost hear his brain thinking out loud and is ever vigilant to your physical movement which also provides a diagnosis. Dr. Ward 's diagnosis will give you the confidence you need to make your own personal decision. My electrical shocks were immediately terminated after surgery. If you are hesitant about postponing neck surgery don't. We all have a window of opportunity, use your's wisely. My Dr. Ward guide you.
Very good experience in all areas
Appreciated the frank honesty.
my daughter has been diagnosed with a slight scoliosis and uneven leg length wish two of her pcp's agreed could be causing her hip pain. This Dr did not notice scoliosis or think her uneven leg length mattered. When asked if a lift in her shoe might help, he told us to get one at the drug store if we want. Once he informed us that she did not have a disc problem that he needed to correct surgically, he seemed totally uninterested in recommending other remedies.
Dr Ward was dismissive. He didn't seem to listen or understand my son's issue. He didn't examine his neck or back other than to have him stand in front of him and bend forward. He said it was normal exam and seemed surprised to see the extent of his curvature on the x-Ray. I knew nothing would be done for a degree less than 15, but wanted to be sure it would be safe for a child to see a chiropractor for care. this question was answered. however, it is ridiculous for this Dr to say my son will experience no real back pain especially in the upper back from his lower back scoliosis. NOT TRUE!!!
Dr Ward is excellent! We were in and out of our appointment in no time. He answered all my questions and gave us tips on how to care for him after the spica cast was removed.
Dr. Warde was not courteous. He was fast and abrupt and it seemed his biggest concern was if I was referred or if I referred myself. He didn't have any insight or suggestions and it was truly a waste of my $25 co-pay.
Dr. Ward is one of the best doctors I know of.
Dr Ward is an amazing surgeon.
I was used to having a different Dr who did my surgery and he is no longer with your practice, Dr Ward was ok but didn't meet my expetations as far as questions I had
Everyone we dealt with from the trauma team at the hospital to the staff at the office was exceptional and should be rewarded for this above and beyond level of care. I can't even put into words how well were treated while in the hospital. I will tell everyone I know about our exceptional care at Children's Hospital.
Dr. Ward is fantastic!!!!
Dr. Timothy Ward is a great doctor! He always answered our questions thoughtfully and in a way that we could understand completely. He helped my daughter tremendously and would highly recommend him to friends and family!
the doctor appeared to be in a rush and i felt the visit was a waste of time
Dr. Ward came across very rude and unprofessional.
This was our first time to Children's Hospital. I was impressed as to how quick we were in and out. I was very please with Dr. Ward. I look forward to our visit in five weeks.
would have liked md to give more detailed response regarding what surgical procedures were performed, over all prognosis, and better explanation of current level of healing process. things seemed very rushed.
Everyone we met was great
Doctor Ward is the best there is.
I love dr. Ward..thank you for doing what you do!
Dr. Ward was receptive to, and informed about, an exercise program to work on my daughter's scoliosis situation. While it may not have been recommended if I hadn't asked about it, his knowledge and receptivity to the idea of PT with a Schroth trained therapist was fantastic. We are much happier to try this active route rather than heading directly to a passive brace situation. Dr. Ward was sympathetic toward my daughter and explained the situation well. He came highly recommended and I certainly understand why.
I have had only good experiences at Dr Wards office. He is the best.
Staff was awesome. That says it all.
Very brisk and impersonal. Appeared to be overwhelmed with patients.
Never looked at us. Either looked at the computer or his intern. Very arrogant. Did not take the time to explain anything. Gave his opinion and said follow up with someone in a year. VERY disappointed he did not further explain my son's diagnosis.
I am extremely disappointed in the level of care my son received. Dr. Ward spent less than 10 min with us and didn't touch my son once. He didn't ask about my son's level of pain and did not listen when we answered the few questions he did ask. It felt like we were brushed off and like my son's pain was insignificant.
Dr. Ward did a wonderful job, speaking directly to my child during our visit. He would listen to his concerns as well as myself. He was very sympathetic and also showed us differently scenarios related to my son's problem.
Not only does Dr. Ward have excellent technical and historical expertise, but his willingness to explore and implement new treatment options (Schroth therapy, new braces) make him exemplary in his field.
Very courteous and responsive.
He was wonderful, and addressed all of our concerns.
I consulted Dr.Ward for a second opinion because I trust his integrity and honesty. He spent time with me explaining my medical issue and possible solutions. I was pleased with his care and the courtesy of the office
The entire experience was absolutely wonderful, we are really happy with our first experience at Childrens
quick and easy
The office people, doctor, and nurses in the department were wonderful.
I was very pleased with the way Dr. Ward took his time to thoroughly explain my health concern to me in a way that I felt at ease with my problems.
Dr. Ward is the best! Back surgery was 27 years ago - obviously, it has lasted to the present time.
I have been having health concerns for a year which is why I scheduled an appointment with a specialist. I was made to feel like I was dumb for making the appointment. I was in the exam room for less than 10 mins and no care at all was expressed. Waste of my time off from work to come to the appointment and waste of my time in general. Very disappointed.
Dr. Ward is great! Excellent doctor I would defiantly recommend him.
Not very happy with the time spent and lack of concern the dr. had for my concerns with my child. Very dismissive of questions and concerns.
Dr. Ward has eased my mind about my child's condition and the outcome that is expected. He is always so kind and very knowledgable.
I referred Dr ward to my sister since he and his staff were so professional
Dr. Ward performed a spinal fusion for me on 5-31-06. No pain, easy recovery, and nine years with no problem.
Dr. Ward was extremely personable, caring and easy to talk to about my concerns for my child. He was knowledgeable and answered all of my questions.
Staff was excellent at the office and in the same day surgery ward. They smiled and put me at ease. Another staff made sure I had the right appointment and even checked with the other staff to be sure she gave me the correct information. Doctor Ward was respectful and seemed very knowledgeable about what treatment my son needed. All hospital nurses and staff were attentive and made sure we were comfortable and my son was given the best care I could have asked for.
Dr. Ward was very responsive to issues I had with the original Orth Dr. that saw my daughter in the ER. I was satisfied that any and all issues would be addressed and felt we are in good hands going forward.
My daughter is very comfortable with Dr. Ward. He has been treating her since infancy, and she thinks the world of him.
our visit was very rushed
Doctor Ward, has been and still is very professional in his approach to my issues yet has a deep concern that I am to understand everything in terms that are understandable while at the same time educating me on how my body works and what happens when things go wrong. He allows for questions and I feel very confident in asking even the simple questions of such a professional. We have seen him for many family issues and I am grateful to be under his care again. Such peace of mind and body had come all ready from just one visit. I am confident whatever the out come of this new challenge I will be guided and help by his knowledge and care.
He was rude and no bed side manner
