ABLEDATA — A federally funded project whose primary mission is to provide information on assistive technology and rehabilitation equipment available to consumers, organizations, professionals, and caregivers within the United States. Sponsored by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR). Searchable database contains information on more than 18,000 currently available assistive technology products. Web site also features consumer product reviews, conference information, classified ads and up-to-date news about disabilities of all types.
Accessibility Shopping Mall — Comprehensive listing of resources for adaptive products and assistive technology. Consumers can get information, locate vendors and/or purchase products such as: clothing; footwear; wheelchairs and walkers; computer hardware and software; home, sports and playground equipment; vehicle modifications, and many more.
The Boulevard (Pediatric Products) — Products specifically developed to meet the needs of young children with a disability. This web site serves as a resource directory of disability products and services for the disabled, elderly, caregiver and healthcare professional. Areas of coverage include daily living needs, travel, employment, and more.
The Center for Universal Design — National center that promotes universal design for housing, public and commercial facilities, and related products. The website contains information on standards for accessible design, accessible community transportation and the practice of universal design.
National Lekotek Center — National source for toys and play equipment for special needs children. The center also sponsors family play centers and toy lending libraries that give children with special needs access through play to toys, books, and computer software and hardware selected or adapted to fit the way their minds and bodies work.
Pennsylvania’s Initiative on Assistive Technology (PIAT) — Pennsylvania organization offering statewide advocacy, training, information and referral related to assistive technology and product/service providers. Sponsors Recycled Equipment Exchange Project, a classified listing of assistive technology to sell, buy, or donate.
Special Needs Project: Good Books About Disabilities — Independent bookseller specializing in books about disabilities for families and professionals. Extensive collection includes large selection of picture books for children, many also available in Spanish.
