11/08/18 - John Patrick Caffey, MD Memorial Lecture “Imaging the Pediatric Lung: Structure, Microstructure, and Function”

Jason Woods, PhD
Director, Center for Pulmonary Imaging Research
Co-Director, Cincinnati BPD Center
Professor, Pediatrics (Pulmonary Medicine), Radiology, and Physics, Cincinnati's Children's Hospital Medical Center and University of Cincinnati

Brief Summary of Lecture: This lecture will describe advances in pediatric pulmonary imaging that allow MRI to depict and quantify pulmonary structural abnormalities with high precision and resolution that rivals CT, even in young neonatal patients with bronchopulmonary dysplasia, which will be highlight. In parallel, hyperpolarized gas MRI allows quantification of pulmonary function via regional ventilation and gas-exchange imaging, providing for regional structure-function relationships to inform precision medicine in a wide range of pulmonary diseases.

Date & Time: Thursday, November 8, 8-9 a.m.
