Brief Summary of Lecture:
Included in Dr. Hoberman’s presentation will be the topic of discriminating between ears with acute otitis media, otitis media with effusion and effusion-free ears. He will also discuss critically applying diagnostic and treatment principles addressed in the American Academy of Pediatrics guideline to the management of children with acute otitis media, as well as incorporating new epidemiologic and treatment outcome evidence from recent acute otitis media clinical trials to treat young children with acute otitis media too. Finally, the use of pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic principles in selecting antimicrobials for children with AOM will be presented.
