Proud to Be in the Top 10
In its June 9 “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals” issue, U.S.News & World
Report ranked Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC as one of the
top 10 pediatric hospitals in the nation.
Children’s Hospital ranked No. 10 among 113 of the nation’s top pediatric
hospitals in general pediatrics, up from its No. 13 ranking in 2007.
Children’s also was recognized as a top 10 hospital in Digestive Disorders (6),
Neurology and Neurosurgery (10) and Respiratory Disorders (6), and
among the 30 top-ranked hospitals in cancer (24), heart and heart
surgery (16), and neonatal care (22).
The U.S.News “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals” rankings also are

Telephone Triage & Advice Center - An Extension of PCP Practices

Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC’s Telephone Triage & Advice Center provides evening, night and weekend on-call coverage for primary care physicians (PCPs). The center’s pediatric RNs triage all physician clinical calls in accordance with approved telephone protocols. All encounters are documented with a detailed patient assessment and recommended advice, and are faxed daily to the child’s PCP. The center provides on-call coverage for more than 145 PCPs throughout southwestern Pennsylvania. The center also serves as the Pediatric Advice Line (PAL) for UPMC Health Plan and is currently available free of charge to all of your patients with UPMC Health Insurance.
