The Ladies Hospital Aid Society (LHAS) will its annual black-tie charity event Saturday, Aug. 27, at the Westin Convention Center hotel in downtown Pittsburgh. This year’s signature event, “Here’s Looking At You, Kid,” will benefit the LHAS Patient Support and Operations Fund for the Division of Pediatric Plastic Surgery at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.
Children’s Hospital’s Division of Pediatric Plastic Surgery, led by Joseph Losee, M.D., FACS, FAAP, treats children suffering from trauma and congenital problems of the head and neck, trunk and upper and lower extremities. Specialists are experienced in treating a multitude of medical conditions from those that impair function to appearance-related conditions with psychological effects. LHAS’ goal is to help ease the emotional and financial burdens for families in need of support, as well as provide operational funds to Dr. Losee’s team so they can continue to provide state-of-the-art care to their patients and families.
This year’s event will include a dinner, cocktails, dancing and silent auction items showcasing signed memorabilia, high-end jewelry, bags, fur coats, accessories and much more. There also will be a presentation of two LHAS Innovation Awards and recognition of LHAS Doctors of Distinction showcasing physicians’ support of LHAS.
“We are especially grateful to be the beneficiary of this year’s Ladies Hospital Aid Society event and for their overwhelming support for us,” said Dr. Losee, also a professor of surgery and pediatrics in the Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. “The contributions from the event will greatly impact our program, allowing us to expand our care and provide the best options and support for our patients and their families.”
Honorary chairs for the evening are Mary Anne and Howard Hanna III, and honored guests include Dr. Losee, Alexander Davit, M.D., Lorelei Grunwaldt, M.D., and Anand Kumar, M.D., all of Children’s Division of Pediatric Plastic Surgery.
Ladies Hospital Aid Society has played an integral role in western Pennsylvania for more than 112 years, donating more than $14 million to help meet the needs of thousands of patients, their families, health care professionals and staff. Through a variety of fundraisers, LHAS has provided essential educational, financial, medical and social services to the community.
