PITTSBURGH, PA - September 19, 2013 - The sixth annual ‘DVE Rocks for Children's Radiothon raised more than $564,000 for Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation. The radiothon was broadcast live from the Eat'n Park Atrium at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC Thursday, Sept. 12 through Saturday, Sept. 14.

The station's on-air personalities, including Randy Baumann and the DVE Morning Show, Michele Michaels, and Sean McDowell, all broadcast stories of exceptional care and tremendous courage from patients, families, and staff live from Children's Hospital.

The three-day radiothon featured live performances from national recording act, Midnight Red, Scott Blasey of The Clarks, and local musicians, Josh and Gab. The event also included a special broadcast of "Steelers Huddle" with LaMarr Woodley and Emmanuel Sanders of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and host Tunch Ilkin.

"We are extremely grateful for the tremendous support from WDVE and its listeners who have generously donated this year to Children's Hospital," said Greg Barrett, president, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of Foundation. "The amount of giving this year showcases how Children's has always been and will always be supported by the Pittsburgh community."

In celebration of the 6th Anniversary of Radiothon, WDVE and Children's teamed up with Equitable Gas to create the Platinum Rock Star program. Listeners were encouraged to increase their Rock Star minimum donation by $6 more per month, committing to a total of $16 per month. Platinum Rock Stars will have the opportunity to tour Children's and will be registered to win the Platinum Rock Star all-access prize pack from Stage AE. In return, Equitable Gas matched all Platinum Rock Star donations up to $10,000.

"WDVE is committed to improving the Pittsburgh community and helping its families," said Tim McAleer, Market Manager for Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Pittsburgh. "We are very thankful to the DVE Listeners for helping us surpass last year's total and for being so generous to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh."
