For Youth and Young Adults

The Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine is staffed by doctors, advanced practice providers (i.e. nurse practitioners and physician assistants), social workers, and nurses and support staff who love to work with teens and young adults.

We provide confidential services for most issues including:

  • Birth control.
  • Eating disorders.
  • Gender identity concerns.
  • Hormone problems.
  • Menstrual problems of all kinds.
  • Mental health and outpatient therapy.
  • Pregnancy testing.
  • Questions you may have about your body.
  • Sexuality issues.
  • Sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and treatment.
  • Substance use.

Confidential means that we respect your privacy and that you do not need to have a parent present to receive care from us for these issues. If we are concerned about your safety, however, we will work with you to ensure that you are safe.

We have offices in Oakland, at the UPMC Children’s main hospital in Lawrenceville, in Wexford at Children's Pine Center, and in Bridgeville at Children's South. Learn more about our neighborhood locations.

We accept most insurances.  For confidential visits, we are often able to see you at no cost to you.

Primary Care

Youth and young adults can come to us as their primary care provider. This means we provide you with a “medical home.” You can come here for your physicals and care for any health problems you are having. If a problem is beyond what we can handle in our clinic, we will find the right specialist for you to see.

Research

We conduct research studies too — you may be eligible to participate and help us learn how to improve the health of young people like yourself!
