Based on your child's physical symptoms and stage in recovery, we'll decide the right level of care — inpatient or outpatient eating disorders treatment.

Inpatient care for eating disorders in children

For the most medically fragile, children ages 15 and under receive inpatient care at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.

Individuals, 16 years and older, receive inpatient care at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC in Oakland.

Two levels of outpatient care for children with eating disorders

We offer two levels of outpatient care for children, ages 12 to 18, at Children’s Pine Center in Wexford, Pa.

These programs help patients and their families cope with eating disorders.

Outpatient eating disorders treatment includes:

  • Meal support
  • Group and one-on-one therapy
  • Family sessions
  • Medical monitoring
  • Medical management, when necessary
