A current, annotated list of mailing lists for families of children with disabilities and special needs; each list has been validated (by webmaster) for subscription information and family orientation.

Disabilities-R-Us
Internet chat site created by and for people with physical disabilities; features chat room, message board, mailing list and more. Also offers links to a wide variety of other disability-related sites covering topics such as assistive technology, legal information, physical and learning disabilities, travel, publications, etc.

General Disability Online Discussion Groups
Information (also from FamilyVillage) on General Disability or Health-Related Chat Rooms, Mailing Lists, Newsgroups, and Web Boards.

Health and Disability-Related Mailing Lists
A large list of mailing lists which are disability and/or health related, from FamilyVillage. Includes specific topics such as Developmental Disabilities, Spina Bifida and Cerebral Palsy.

Healthlink USA
Links to web sites which primarily include personal stories, message boards and support for parents / families, with some information about treatment, statistics, and current research.

Mothers United for Moral Support (MUMS)
MUMS is a national Parent-to-Parent organization for parents or care providers of a child with any disability, disorder, chromosomal abnormality or health condition. The organization’s main purpose is to provide support to parents in the form of a networking system that matches them with other parents whose children have the same or similar condition. Through a database of over 16,000 families from 49 countries covering over 2800 disorders, even very rare syndromes or conditions can usually be matched.

Parent to Parent of Pennsylvania (P2P)
Network created by and for families of children and adults with special needs; connects families in similar situations with one another so they can share experiences, offer practical information and/or support. P2P also provides assistance in establishing local support groups, grant writing and fundraising.

Parent to Parent Internet of Pennsylvania
E-mail support group for parents of children with special needs which allows parents to give and receive support, advice, information, resources, and share some of the challenges and successes of parenting children with disabilities.

For Kids and Teens
Sibling Support Project
National program dedicated to the interests of brothers and sisters of people with special health and developmental needs; based at Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Seattle, WA.
