Family Forum

The Family Forum at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC is a diverse group of individuals who partner with staff members and hospital leadership to help improve the experiences children and families have during their time at Children’s Hospital. Family Forum members are deeply involved in activities at Children’s, including:

  • Collaborating with architectural team on the design of new hospital
  • Helping orient new nurses, residents and staff to the concept and practice of family-centered care at Children’s
  • As part of a larger, “Parents Present at Procedures” project, helped develop patient procedure sheets that inform patients and families about procedures they’ll undergo and orient families to their role at their child’s procedures

Parents, guardians and adult caregivers of children who receive care at any of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC’s locations are eligible to serve on Family Forum. Adults who received care from Children’s at one time also may apply.

The mission of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC’s Family Forum is to partner with hospital staff to bring the voice and perspective of parents and families to the hospital. Members of the Family Forum work to promote the practice of family-centered care, advocate for children and their families to be full partners in their medical care, and improve quality and patient safety at Children’s Hospital.

To that end, several programs are available to facilitate and foster the collaboration between the health care team and family. Read more about Family Forum programs.
