Development of a Patient Reported Outcome Measure for Measuring Symptom Burden in Children with Streptococcal Pharyngitis
Through the use of a questionnaire, Children Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC is gathering information about the symptoms children with strep throat experience and how these symptoms affect their lives. The goal is to determine which symptoms of strep throat bother children the most.
Candidates
Children determined to have the strep throat upon examination during their office visit. In addition to patients diagnosed at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, patients seen at any of the Children’s Community Pediatrics branches in the surrounding areas are invited to participate.
Boys: 5–15 years old
Girls: 5–15 years old
Requirements
Children diagnosed with strep throat will be asked a series of questions by one of the study nurses. Parents or guardians accompanying the patient will also be asked to complete a questionnaire. There will be one additional visit 12 days after the initial diagnosis. The questionnaire may take about 20 minutes to complete.
Visits: 2
Duration: 12 days
Status: Open for Enrollment
