Safety and Effectiveness of Dietary Restriction and Nutritional Supplements for Young Autistic Children

This study examines whether symptoms of Autism or Pervasive Development Disorder are reduced through either the use of a special gluten-free, casein-free diet or a sugar restriction diet with or without taking a natural Omega-3 fatty acid supplement.

Candidates
Children diagnosed with autism based on a clinical evaluation with no evidence of a genetic, metabolic or infections etiology for their diagnosis are eligible. Candidates must be free of other mental disorders and have a full IQ score within the average range of intelligence.
Boys: 30 - 54 months
Girls: 30 - 54 months
