Compassionate Use Protocol for the Use of AMD3100 to Mobilize Peripheral Blood Stem Cells for Collection and Transplantation

AMD3100 is an experimental drug offered to some patients when doctors determine that other treatments these patients received were not effective in collecting enough peripheral stem cells for transplantation. This is considered a compassionate use program, which is similar to a research study, although it is not approved as such by the Food and Drug Administration. It is offered to patients with serious or life-threatening diseases for which other treatments are not available.

Candidates
Among other factors, qualified candidates will have already received chemotherapy and commercially available growth factors to collect stem cells, which proved to be unsuccessful. There is no set number of patients who will be treated through this program. Each request is determined on a case-by-case basis by the study sponsor.
Boys: All ages
Girls: All ages

Requirements
Following a screening examination to determine a patient’s eligibility for this program, the participant will receive a four-day series of injections of G-CSF, a blood forming agent, followed by additional doses of G-CSF and AMD3100 in conjunction with stem cell collection for a number of days determined by the physician. Following chemotherapy and stem cell transplantation, blood work will be required for up to 30 days after transplant and again at 3, 6 and 12 months.
Visits: To be determined by the physician
Duration: 12 months

Status: Open for Enrollment
