Overweight, PCOS and Bone Study
The purpose of this study is to determine if overweight girls with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) have better or worse bone health than overweight girls without PCOS. Symptoms of PCOS include irregular periods, acne and unwanted hair growth.
Compensation provided.
Candidates
- Healthy overweight females, with and without PCOS, 10 to 20 years of age
- Must not be taking any medication on a daily basis
Requirements
- Screening interview, physical exam, and blood tests
- Study involves blood tests and bone tests, (girls with PCOS will also have two overnight stays at Children’s Hospital, return for two additional overnight stays at the end of the study).
- Free medical intervention for PCOS subjects
Duration: 6 months
