Lipid Abnormalities in Pediatric Liver and Small Intestine Transplant Patients

This study explores how abnormalities in fat-containing molecules, such as cholesterol and triglycerides, occur in children who undergo liver or small bowel transplants. Also, fat absorption in small bowel transplant patients will be assessed, which may help future patients with either dietary restrictions or medical therapy.

Candidates
Children between 6 months to 17 years of age who had a liver transplant or small bowel transplant are eligible to participate.
Boys: 6 months through 17 years
Girls: 6 months through 17 years

Requirements
During visits, participants will receive a medical examination. Among other requirements, small blood samples will be collected through the course of normal follow-up care on 2 occasions, 12 months apart.
