The Teen Volunteer Program is a rewarding experience that provides a special opportunity for teens who are interested in gaining experience in a pediatric health care environment.
Because of the sensitive nature of the pediatric hospital environment, we only offer opportunities for teens ages 15-17.
Teens that are accepted into the program are placed in a variety of areas throughout the hospital under supervision of UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh staff.

If you have met the minimum requirements the previous summer, you will be contacted early in the calendar year to invite you back to the program.
You will need to complete the Returning Teen Volunteer Form.
If you have not received your form, contact us at 412-692-5185 or firstname.lastname@example.org to have one emailed to you.
In addition to completing this paperwork, before you can return to volunteer, you are also required to complete the Annual Mandatory Training requirement by completing the online training modules or attend a Refresher Training session.
If you have returned all the required information, you will receive your schedule and assignment information by early April. You will be eligible to begin once you set up your start date with a Volunteer Coordinator.
The Teen Volunteer Program is very popular and often has more applicants than available openings.
We encourage teen applicants to submit their applications early and be thoughtful in the completion of all application materials.
Please visit the volunteer application page to find the instructions and link to the Pre-Application Assessment Survey which must be completed as first step in the application process.
Due to a large number of applications and many teens that return to the program from previous years, there are usually limited openings each year.
You will be notified of your application status by the last week of April.
