Children's Hospital is part of the UPMC family.
Children’s Hematology/Oncology Division has highly specialized treatment programs for children with brain tumors, bone cancer, and blood diseases.
All patient care programs offer support services for the psychosocial needs of patients and their families.
Our inpatient unit serves about 1,220 children with cancer each year.
The unit has 11 general oncology beds and 6 bone marrow transplant beds.
For outpatient cancer care, Children’s has the Marty Ostrow Hematology/Oncology Outpatient Center.
Designed to provide a comfortable setting for children to receive cancer treatments and follow-up care, the center handles close to 6,800 outpatient visits each year.

The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC requires referrals from primary care physicians or other Children’s Hospital specialists. Patients enrolled in managed care insurance plans also may require authorization from their insurance provider and primary care physician.
At the time of the telephone referral, your doctor will need to provide a brief clinical history. He or she will also need to fax all pertinent lab reports to the treatment center.
The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology must receive all necessary referral and authorization forms before the patient’s visit.
