Biography Summary

Jessica Sebastian, MS, CGC, joined the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC’s Division of Medical Genetics in September of 2011. She completed her undergraduate work at the Pennsylvania State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with an interest in developmental biology and genetics. She received her Master of Science degree in Genetic Counseling from Arcadia University in 2011. While at Arcadia University, she was a member of the High Honors National Fraternity, Alpha Epsilon Lamda and was awarded the class of 2011 Genetic Counseling Annual Award.

Jessica’s past research experience includes work at the Pennsylvania State University on mapping RNA-binding protein interactions in Yeast. Her graduate thesis research focused on assessing the knowledge base of Spanish Medical Interpreters in the prenatal genetic counseling field. Her clinical interests include cardiac genetics, chromosomal disorders, exome sequencing, and patients with rare, undiagnosed genetic conditions. Jessica is also the lead genetic counselor for the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC’s HHT Center of Excellence.

She is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counselors as a genetic counselor, a PA-state licensed genetic counselor and is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors.
