Provider was responsive to our concern about side effects for a prescription and gave an alternative
Dr. Marks was uninterested and curt during our short visit. We were on time and greeted her. In response, she made us feel like (a) she had a plane to catch, or (b) was looking to be done with us in record time. Her quick look of my daughter's condition was followed by a few questions. But she didn't ask basic questions for my daughter about her pain and discomfort. Nor did she provide any explanations of her condition. I had to ask her basic questions about the condition (e.g., causes, duration, medication) but her responses were curt.
Dr. Marks was wonderful with my daughter. She listened to her and spent an appropriate amount of time with us addressing our concerns. We prefer to see her on future visits.
I think doctor Katherine Marks was not very friendly, didn't care much about my concerns. also, rushed us out as fast as she could. basically questioned why we were their after our previous provider had told us to get his birth mark checked yearly.
we were so grateful to receive a "next day" appointment due to a cancellation.
doctor stated that she typically sends children taking my daughters medication to the vascular center, even though we have been seen at this office multiple times and assured that they were able to adequately and appropriately manage the medication. I stated that we could easily take our daughter to the vascular center but doctor insisted that she was able to adjust medication although she seemed unsure of medication weaning protocol. the doctor made me not have confidence in her abilities to appropriately manage medication
the doctor was unable to give her recommendation for further treatment. she told us to see someone else. I was expecting her recommendation and opinion.
The doctor was very helpful and friendly. My son was comfortable and it was a positive experience!
Dr. Marks seemed to be in a hurry during the visit. I tried to tell her that I had already tried the medications she was prescribing but she didn't seem to care. I wanted to tell her that I couldn't tolerate one of the medications she was prescribing but again she didn't care to take the time to talk with me. It seems like this doctor just wants to keep trying the same medications I have been previously prescribed and when we ask about other treatments she didn't care to discuss. She was in and out of the visit within 15 minutes.
Dr. Marks was very personable and explained my child's condition and plan of care in a very thorough manner.
Professional and engaging
Dr. Marks is absolutely wonderful. she should be recognized as being very laid back and attentive and extremely smart .
the entire staff was very friendly
dr came in fast answered all questions and did great!
she was very nice and understanding of my problems
My child was seen for skin tags. The provider mentioned that she is not sure if they were warts or skin tags. What made me most uncomfortable was her question if I was concerned about child abuse. In my opinion, this is extremely sensitive question, especially to a mother of a 5 year old. The way this provider asked me, without explaining, completely took me by surprise, and left me speechless the rest of the appointment. It also left me worried to this day. She never proceeded to explain in detail why she asked the question, only saying that it is a high possibility due to where the skin tags were located. I am not sure if this provider has any children of her own, but when talking to a mother of a child, the provider could be a bit more sensitive. Not only that she made it very uncomfortable and worry some for me, she also was whispering to a coworker upon my daughter's and I exit. Provider never got into positive talk, nor did she explain other causes. I had to research on my own after returning home. Very unprofessional. I am very disappointed and will not return to this provider in the future.
she was great !!!
very quick from check in to check out
Doctor was very attentive and listened to our concerns. She provided options for care for my son so we could make best choice. Very happy with care.
Medical student did an excellent, thorough job. Doctor was quick, friendly, efficient.
I didn't like that myself and my son heard Dr Marks and the other female doctor in the office conversing about my sons skin. Not really any empathy from either doctor either.
it would have been nice to see the doctor a little longer. we got a physicians assistant I think and he seemed unsure about some things. then after the doctor and him left to write up her papers it would have been nice if she cane back in to ask if we had any other questions or concerns
Dr. Marks was very personable and easy to talk to. She listened to my concerns and answered all questions. She came up with a plan that i wad comfortable with and considered my suggestions. I would recommend her!
child broke a bone in her foot. appointment took less than an hour and they were very thorough.
did not explain the pain that could happen with blisters. assured me the procedure would not cause pain.
The provider and provider's assistant(intern) were very knowledgeable about my child's issue. They both were friendly and explained things in a simple way. I will definitely return for all our future needs.
That was our first time being treated at that office location and with Dr Marks. I was very impressed by the office staff and the doctor. We will be recommending the office and team and Doctor to others. We will also be continuing are treatment at that location and with Dr Marks!
Athough we now have a plan to treat his eczema I felt rushed.
I felt that my child was not seen as a specific case, but more as a typical condition and given the same cookie cutter response as anyone else. Certain medicines work better for certain people and it seems as though I could have gotten the same print out on WebMD for treating eczema.
It's never fun listening to your kid scream in pain, but I think Dr. Marks did a great job of talking her through it, getting her consent before touching her, and working with us to do the procedure in a way that made it as smooth as it could have gone.
Very professional staff and physician. My daughter was very impressed that Dr. Marks gave her choices about her treatment.
this provider is nothing like the previous physician we had seen. she is very nice and courteous and takes her time. she did not have the attending complete the majority of the assessment and and then spend two minutes in the room with us. she took her time and explained where we could go with the progress and talked to me about options and not automatically make a medical determination prior to meeting me or examining my daughter and did not falsify her examination report summary as many physicians at UPMC have. this is what a passionate provider and any provider should do.
it was our first visit with Dr Marks. she was very helpful with my sons skin condition and prescribed medication for the problem.
Impression of the provider was overall good, she seems competent, but definitely didn't want to spend much time in the room. Given we wait weeks for an appointment, I think most would expect to get a full 7-10 minutes with the provider.
exceptionally long wait time
Physician was very kind and professional.
I felt the provider was rushing and I did not get to fully explain my concerns. When I asked questions, I was told the answers would be on the paper I would get at the end. She did not seem willing to take the time to hear my concerns or answer my questions.
Dr. Marks was very personable and interacted well with my child, but I felt rushed and was not able to explain my child's problems in full detail.
Dr Mark took time to listen my concerns and made referrals to follow up with other specialists. she stayed in the room with myself and husband on speaker phone to help us with any questions.
Very professional, no wait time, clear instructions/explanations for further care.
great Dr and staff
Provider used liquid nitrogen on my son's arm, but did not get all the growths. When asked why, she really did not give much of an answer. This makes me have to come back for another treatment.
My son has had black heads in his ears with regular cysts for several years. The provider did not ask questions or give any cause of this problem. A prescription of Retin A was given.I asked her to extract a large (VERY OLD) blackhead that was in a location difficult to get to. She declined and suggested letting the medication pull it out.
excellent care thank you
We were very pleased with our treatment; and we felt educated as our regular children's doctor could not tell us what the rash was from. Dr. Marks was very informative and helpful.
Dr. Marks was great--she was efficient and sympathetic, and gave us several options for possible courses of action.
the doctor seemed rushed and a bit inconvenienced by my questions. she didn't interact directly with my child much at all.
we have never seen this doctor before at the practice. she was absolutely wonderful. she showed concern and honestly made me leave feeling a sense of relief as if we were going to actually find an answer or at least rule some things out.
dr marks was very good. she was very helpful and thorough
The Provider came in nearly 45 minutes after our appointment time. She never even bothered to apologize or address the long wait. It was very evident she was trying to quickly get through the appointment-she spent less than 5 minutes with us total. She prescribed a medication but never advised on how to use it, never discussed if there was a need for follow up care, etc. When she came back and advised the script was faxed, I saw it was to a pharmacy we had never used. She didn't have an explanation as to why it was sent there. I gave her the new pharmacy information and she was to resend. I later got a call from a different location of the pharmacy I had asked it to be faxed to-she sent it to the incorrect place again. I would never come back to this Provider, after waiting for months this felt like nothing more than a waste of time. We will look outside of Children's for future appointments we may need.
excellent care. thank you!
Dr. Marks was worst provider we have seen in many years. No eye contact and kept looking down at her paperwork. Did not engage in conversation and this showed lack of interest/compassion with us!
