Likes About UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh: Amazingly supportive mentors and a program that is structured to fit my goals and interests.

I completed my medical education and residency at West Virginia University where I served as Chief Resident of the Internal Medicine & Pediatrics program. Working with both adults and children made me realize that my favorite patients were adolescents. I am particularly interested in improving the move from pediatric to adult care, and have developed clinical policies to facilitate successful transition. I am also an advocate for LGBTQ youth, and created an educational curriculum to better train medical students and physicians to care for this population. I chose the UPMC Adolescent & Young Adult Medicine Fellowship Program due to their emphasis on clinical research as well as the opportunity for more training on transition medicine and gender affirming care.
