Pulmonology Fellowship
Thank you for considering the UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Pediatric Pulmonology Fellowship Program. The mission of our fellowship program is to educate, support, and facilitate our diverse fellows’ pursuit of their passions in pediatric pulmonology.
The standard fellowship is three years in duration, with the majority of the first year devoted to clinical training and protected time given for research activities over the next two years. U.S. citizenship is not required for application to the fellowship.
The fellowship program offers an NIH T32 research training grant in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine for eligible candidates. The training grant is designed to prepare trainees for a career in clinical, translational, or basic science research in an academic environment.
The fellowship program is directed by Hiren Muzumdar, MD and assisted by Barbara Persichetti, BS (program coordinator).
Clinical Training
Fellows will gain excellent skills and comfort in all areas (both the common and rarer disease types) of clinical pulmonology.
Research Opportunities
