Substance use during adolescence can be challenging for families to navigate. UPMC Children’s Community Pediatrics is dedicated to helping families increase their knowledge about substance use and learn ways to help their adolescent make positive changes.

SMART Choices

The SMART Choices program offers substance use support options that utilize skills and techniques from evidence-based practices, including Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Community Reinforcement and Family Training. This free support program is offered in western Pennsylvania for adolescents up to 21-years-old with substance use concerns, and their parents or caregivers.
