Joon Young Kim, PhD, is a post-doctoral fellow at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh with Silva Arslanian, MD, supported by the NIH-funded T32 training grant in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the University of Pittsburgh. His research focuses on the pathophysiology of prediabetes and type 2 diabetes in obese children and adolescents, and the identification of novel metabolic biomarkers of type 2 diabetes risk in the pediatric population. Another interest of Dr. Kim is the metabolic and hormonal alterations in obese girls with PCOS.
