Our Services
The Pediatric and the Neonatal Intensive Care Units at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC have specialized neurocritical care units to diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate children from birth through young adulthood with any neurologic condition. Specialized intensive care physicians, neurologists, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, pharmacists, and dietitians work together to provide the highest level of care for children with disorders of the brain, spinal cord, and nerves.
Referral Requirements
Referrals are required from primary care physicians or other Children’s Hospital specialty services. Referrals for patients enrolled in managed care insurance plans also may require authorization from the insurance provider and primary care physician.
Emergency referrals should be made using the Children’s Hospital Communications Center, 412-692-5000. Questions also may be directed to the intensivist on call by calling the hospital operator at 412-692-5325.
