Pediatric Surgery
Description of Services
The Division of Pediatric General and Thoracic Surgery at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC provides comprehensive care to infants, children, adolescents and young adults with surgical problems. We are leaders in minimally invasive surgery techniques, which mean less pain and quicker recoveries for our young patients.
Service is provided 24-hours a day and includes diagnosis, consultation, management and follow-up care administered by a highly-experienced team of pediatric surgeons, nurses and other specialists such as pediatric anesthesiologists.

Referral Requirements
Referrals are required from primary care physicians or other Children’s Hospital specialty services. Consultations and appointments can be made by calling the Pediatric Surgery office at 412-692-7280. Referrals for patients enrolled in managed care insurance plans also may require authorization from the insurance provider and a primary care physician. All necessary referral and authorization forms must be received before the patient’s visit.
