Care of the Underserved: PALS Residency Program
Pediatric Advocacy-Leadership-Service
A new primary care track focused on service to the underserved in urban and rural communities
The Pediatric Advocacy-Leadership-Service (PALS) Program is a Primary Care Track within the Pediatric Residency Program at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. The PALS program trains residents to be outstanding primary care pediatricians with the knowledge and skills to provide effective health care, leadership and advocacy on behalf of children and families in medically underserved communities. The PALS program is housed in the long-standing and highly successful Children's Community Oriented Residency Program (CORE) that promotes child, family, and community advocacy in the context of pediatric training and practice. The PALS Residency Program is made possible through funding by a federal grant.
The PALS program is designed for residents who want to have an impact in addressing the needs of children and families who are underserved.
