Carolyn Confer, former social worker in the Division of Pediatric Rheumatology, was awarded the Pam Schanwald Heart-In-Hand Pediatric Care Award at the Arthritis Foundation’s Keys to a Cure Luncheon in May 2011.
The award, named after Pam Schanwald, executive director of the Children's Home, was established to recognize a medical professional who has given exemplary care and service to children. It is presented annually to a member of the medical profession, who has illustrated this caring commitment through his or her work with children, in their respective field.
