A close neighbor to the new Children’s Hospital campus, Friendship is one of Pittsburgh’s hidden and historic residential gems, with spacious brick homes and big lawns on leafy streets. One neighborhood architectural landmark is the Friendship Avenue School, now home to the Pittsburgh Public Schools’ magnet Montessori school.

The historic East Liberty neighborhood is fast becoming one of Pittsburgh’s major food centers, with Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and a growing slew of unique ethnic restaurants. East Liberty is only a short drive down Penn Avenue from the new campus, along the major access route to the hospital from the east of Pittsburgh.
