New App Puts Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC Experts Just a Quick Tap Away

April 2, 2018

Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC’s newly released mobile app includes must-have features that parents and caregivers can access in a tap – including quick access to a patient portal, locations with directions, and a quick and easy search to find pediatric specialists for any condition.

ChildrensPgh, is available for Apple and Android products through the App Store and Google Play.

The app supports easy access to essential medical information, such as:

  • Patient portals, providing access to myCHP and MyUPMC from a single source. From the portals, parents can view and manage appointments, exchange secure messages with their health care team, and view discharge information and lab results.
  • Location and directions for all Children’s Hospital facilities and points of care.
  • Children’s Express Care information, such as hours, directions and phone numbers.
  • “Find a Doctor” tool to search for a pediatrician or a pediatric specialist close to home.
  • Symptom Checker to help parents determine the most appropriate level of care when a child is sick or injured. It also puts parents in touch with experts at Children’s Hospital.
  • Medications for maintaining a list of prescriptions and providing dosage information for common over-the-counter medicines.
  • Emergency Services for quick connections to poison centers, 911 and emergency rooms across the United States.
  • Online donation form to support the needs of Children’s Hospital and the mission of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of Foundation.

“We understand the need for quick access to reliable health information. We designed our app to answer that need and to help users connect to all things Children’s Hospital with an easy tap,” said Brian Martin, D.M.D., vice president of medical affairs, Children’s Hospital. “Our new app is a must-have for anyone who interacts with children and teens – from parents and caregivers to teachers, coaches and day care workers.”

The new design is the first step in expanding the ChildrensPgh app and offering the latest in app technology. Additional features, such as push notifications, Children’s Community Pediatrics locations, wait times for the Emergency Room and Children’s Express Care centers, will be added throughout the year.
