Healthy Habits 4 Life

To extend our services throughout the region, the Weight Management and Wellness Center at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, in association with the Children’s Community Pediatrics, offers Healthy Habits 4 Life, an innovative program designed for children and families interested in learning more to maintain a healthy weight. Healthy Habits 4 Life is provided by pediatricians and trained lifestyle coaches who help children and their families learn and practice healthy lifestyle habits. Lifestyle coaches are conveniently located at Children’s Community Pediatrics offices throughout the region. Talk to your Children’s Community Pediatrics pediatrician to find out if your child might benefit from the program. Learn more.

Family Care Connections

Healthy Habits 4Life is also being implemented at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC’s Family Care Connection Centers to provide nutrition and lifestyle education and activities to the families they serve. Located in five Pittsburgh neighborhoods — Braddock, Lawrenceville, Mt. Oliver, Rankin, and Turtle Creek — the Family Care Connection Centers offer a unique setting in which to translate our clinical service into a community program.

Camp PATH

The Weight Management and Wellness Center team collaborated with the YMCA to create Camp PATH — Positive Attitudes Toward Health — as way for our tweens and teens who have challenges with weight to experience the joy of camp through programs that nourish a healthy spirit, mind and body. Campers get to enjoy such activities as music, nature walks, canoeing, archery, gardening, healthy cooking demonstrations, crafts, yoga, woodworking, journalism, water aerobics, ropes courses, climbing walls, swimming, and more. Interested in having fun this coming summer? Then join other tweens/teens on the PATH to healthy living at Camp PATH. Visit www.ycamps.org to find out more.
