Nomination Criteria for Eugene S. Wiener Award
Eugene S. Wiener, MD, Award for Outstanding Contributions to Pediatric Health Care
Recipient must demonstrate some or all of the following:
- An extraordinarily deep commitment to patients and families – beyond the normal call of duty
- A constant striving for excellence to achieve better outcomes in the care of sick and injured children
- A passionate child advocate – particularly around patient safety innovation
- A visionary leader
- A healthcare professional who utilizes cross-disciplinary teams to improve pediatric care
- A motivator who inspires excellence in others by way of their actions as well as their words
- A healthcare professional whose standard of excellence and/or work has caused others to make official note or recommend accolade
In addition:
- Priority will be given to a current or past healthcare professional at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC unless another “higher qualified” candidate from another healthcare institution exists.
- If no suitable candidates are identified, committee may suspend the award for that particular year.
