About Children's

Required Clearances

Children’s Hospital requires all applicants to sign a release form to process references. That process will verify all previous employment and education as well as secure references.

As a pediatric facility we also require a more complex process which includes obtaining Act 33/34 and Act 73 clearances. Those offered a position at Children’s are required to obtain the following clearances:

  • Pennsylvania Act 33 require that prospective employees of agencies serving children (Act 33) present evidence to a potential employer or internship site of any criminal record with the State Police, or a statement from the State Police that such a record does not exist. Out-of-State residents must, in addition, present evidence of an FBI background check.
  • In 2007, Act 73 was passed to bring Pennsylvania into compliance with the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act. The federal legislation requires that any hospital hires, on or after July, 1 2008, must complete a fingerprint-based federal criminal record check through.
